Brandon David Wilson interview

Filmmaker Brandon David Wilson interview – On Covid19, Sepulveda movie, the future, growing up in LA

On 5/2/20 the guest on Sujewa’s Single Take, No Edits Interview Show! for NYC Fantastic blog was Brandon David Wilson – LA based filmmaker and film teacher. Check out Brandon’s excellent second feature Sepulveda here –

From Sepulveda site – “In 2016, BDW debuted his second feature film, this time co-directed with his wife Jena English (who also shot the film in 1080p HD), Sepulveda at the 2016 Urbanworld Film Festival in New York City. Filmed without a screenplay, Sepulveda stars non-professional actors playing versions of themselves on a road trip down the longest street in Southern California. Sepulveda screened at the Silicon Beach Film Festival and the Culver City Film Festival where it won awards for its ensemble cast and a special achievement award.

BDW lives with his family and his Blu-Ray player in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. He is currently plotting projects, teaching film, and tweeting.”

Once Upon A Time In Anatolia discussion

From YouTube page – “This month, Ian and Sujewa welcome Liam Billingham of the OEUVRE BUSTERS podcast for a lively and somewhat contentious look at Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s ONCE UPON A TIME IN ANATOLIA. The stark Turkish drama centers on two murder suspects leading a team of investigators to their victim’s burial site. A long night of dead ends and rising tensions leads to revelations both ghoulish and deeply personal.”

By end of May – new movie Brooklyn Fantastic!

UPDATE – Finishing Brooklyn Fantastic movie has been moved until the end of May because new storage devices and other tech needed to deal with the original Mini-DV footage has not arrived yet. I hope to have both Brooklyn Fantastic and Agnes The Alien finished by end of May. I did end up posting a new interview on 5/2.

ORIGINAL POST – Instead of an interview we will have another type of video content up on the blog on Sunday 5/3 late night – Mon 5/4 morning – the premiere of my 2009 filmed feature (might be a shorter feature than usual – maybe 60 mins) Brooklyn Fantastic – starring filmmaker and actor Amir Motlagh, also Susan Buice.

The list of films he worked on include Memento, The Prestige, Downfall, The Passion of the Christ, Velvet Goldmine, The Mexican, American Pie, Donnie Darko, Real Women Have Curves, Whale Rider, Monster. We had a lengthy discussion about John’s experience during these Covid-19 days, early days in the arts, getting started at Newmarket Films by making Memento, and many other related subjects.
